Here's a little about me...
I'm an attachment-oriented and strength-based therapist, working primarily with adolescents and their families as they navigate their path towards healing. My approach includes techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education (PRIDE), and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI®), and I utilize expressive and recreational interventions as needed.
My specialties include ADHD, adoption, anxiety, attachment disorders, behavioral issues, child abuse/neglect, complex trauma, depression, family conflict, foster care, oppositional defiance, sensory processing disorders, sexual exploitation, self-harm, and suicidal ideation. Over nearly a decade, I have worked with children and adolescents in residential treatment centers, the inpatient hospital setting, and in outpatient individual and group therapy.
Through my studies at the University of Texas (BA), Texas A&M University (MPA), and the University of Southern California (MSW), I conducted extensive research on child welfare and intervention to provide the highest quality care to children and their families. I have presented this research at several conferences, such as the Texas Network of Youth Services Annual Conference, Shared Hope International's JuST Conference, and the International Conference on Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Gender Bias; and I have published this work in The Texas Tribune, Houston Chronicle, Caller Times, and on Dressember's anti-trafficking blog.
Besides my role as a therapist, I'm a Pediatric Social Worker in the Grace Grego Maxwell Mental Health Unit at Dell Children's Medical Center. I also serve as a member of the Central Texans Against Human Trafficking Coalition, as an advisor on the Community Advisory Board for Austin PBS, and as the Website Manager for the Austin NAACP. As I pursue my clinical licensure, I follow the guidance and supervision of Tammy Linseisen, ACSW, LCSW-S.
I look forward to learning more about YOU - your strengths, your passions, your goals - and how they
can be utilized to support you in feeling happy, healthy, and safe moving forward.
